Bitter, smokey, sweet

A new shaker for Hanukah – how nice to have good tools. It’s definitely winter so drifting toward the stronger, smokier, more wintery drinks. This one is called Boulevardier, a riff on a Manhattan with the addition of Campari. Manhattan is another great winter drink.

Chill a coupe or martini glass in the freezer for 10 minutes.

Fill your shaker half full of ice, and pour in:

1 and 1/2 oz bourbon
1 oz Campari (bitter and sweet)
1 oz sweet vermouth (I use Cinzano Rosso)

Shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds till the shaker is so cold you can hardly hold it.

Pour into chilled glass. Twist the lemon peel and drop into drink gently. Enjoy!

Shabbat Shalom and may 2013 be a brighter year for us all.
